  • Site Updates/New Content for the last week

The most popular post was my review of the Tom Brace Zoom show “Connected”. Take a look at that blog post if you missed it. Tom is also performing this show live on Zoom again on the 12th of July. Another couple of Vlogs have been added as well. A Vlog to show off the new decks that I ordered from JP Games Ltd and a Vlog of the opening the Derren Brown deck. • Chris Fleming Family Magic Show - Zoom

Just came across another public family magic show on Zoom. This one is for this Saturday the 11th of July at 2pm for an hour. I discovered it in eventbrite and booked And wanted to let you know. When I get a chance during the week, I will add Chris to this site. Will of course do a review of the show once I have attended. To visit eventbrite and book, visit here. • America’s Got Talent - Series 15 episode 6

For episode 6 of AGT, I knew in advance that 2 sets of magicians would feature. Anthem and Aria were the first set of advertised magicians on this episode. However , the act was more cabaret singing with limited magic that would be at best described as nostalgic rather than modern. The judges buzzed their performance. View. The second performance was by Vadim Savenkov. Though strangely, only features him briefly and he didn’t get properly introduced. Would have been good to see more of the act as seemed interesting though he didn’t get through. He had created a cartoon image of himself while performing and is worth a view here.

  • The Latest Zoom Shows Available To Book

If you take a look at the Zoom Magic section of this site, more artists are now offering private Zoom Magic shows/bookings. A couple of the artists are also offering public zoom shows. Anyone interested in magic will enjoy this show, good family entertainment and ticket prices are very reasonable. Also, “Magic from the Barn“ takes place on Saturday 18th of July (7pm) and Sunday the 19th of July (3pm). Stars Oliver Tabor and Wayne Trice. Tickets available now via the Facebook page and eventbrite. I will post a review of the show at the time.

  • Tour Listings - Latest Updates and Cancellations

Fairly quiet this week. I checked tour updates on Wednesday the 1st of July and updated the tour listings page. As to be expected, Morgan and West have cancelled any remaining tour dates. So, officially no tour dates for the moment from them. Luke Baker has also rescheduled his tour until 2021. More details to follow about this in a separate blog post soon.

  • Future Website Content

Hopefully you like the site and blog. I am working hard to improve the look and content and I have lots of future plans. Weekly vlog posts are now available, focused on cardistry. Though I may expand the topics in future. I am also in the early stages of conducting some interviews with professional magicians in the entertainment world. More on that soon. I have made a few small changes to the mobile site to improve the user experience and I hope to give it a proper overhaul soon. If you find the revised A to Z page a little slow to load, I hope to divide the content up again into a few pages soon. When I started creating the site, I didn’t realise how much you need to factor in different viewing experiences for mobile, tablet and desktop. Currently the best viewing mode is desktop using microsoft edge. So if you do have any issues, please let me know. Lastly, if you have any suggestions or ideas for content, please comment below. My aim is to provide relevant blog posts that are of interest to the community who are interested in magic and cardistry. Open to other suggestions as well. Thanks all.

  • Petition to Support the Arts

When I was carrying out the site updates last week and reviewing the listings for shows, I noticed that the Smoke and Mirrors Magic bar/theatre website was down (at the time). Some days later, it was still not responding. At first I was concerned that a magic venue/bar had possibly closed down. Thankfully though they just appear to be working on a new website and now have a new look site. Phew! After a search on google, I found the following article about the venue and how they plan to open in future once safe and the challenges that they are facing. This got me thinking about the future of live venues and theatres. As I have mentioned in previous pages, more and more shows are being rescheduled when I update the tour listings for Magicians. I personally have many live events booked this year and I am seeing many reschedule. Thankfully most events are rescheduling rather than cancelling outright. It is also common place now to read many news articles about theatres and venues that need help. I know that the Haymarket theatre in Leicester has already been forced out of business along with others and I suspect many more will go into administration and make staff redundant. West end theatres now also appear to be extending closures till 2021. How will they survive? Not good, and of course the famous ticket booth in Leicester Square is closing for the foreseeable future. Sad times. Many are calling for the government to do more and it is clear that theatres and live venues need help. Announcements of government roadmaps with 5 steps of support have been questioned as meaningless to date. Certainly the steps were more common sense than any ground breaking support or funding. Many artists are struggling themselves while also attempting to raise funds to keep local theatres and venues alive with the financial help they need. A petition to the UK government to do more is live on the government website. It has reached the required number of signatures to trigger a discussion in parliament but is still worth signing to indicate support. Let’s hope that the government do act more quickly. The future of live venues affects all of us. My family and I use live venues a lot for entertainment. Many are also employed in the arts and rely on the venues to earn a living. More needs to be done to protect the future of UK theatre for all generations. If you haven’t already and wish to support this cause, sign the petition.

  • Site Updates/New Content During The Last Week

Most of the site updates this last week have been behind the scenes. I have been working on a better infrastructure so that I can update site pages with the latest information more easily. Basically adding a database with fields that can be used to populate info on magicians/artists that will feed the tour listings, Zoom Magic and the A to Z listings pages. The A to Z of Magicians page has had the biggest overhaul. Each listing in the A to Z also makes a reference to whether they are touring and includes a biography, their website details and the date that the entry was updated. The Tour Listings and Zoom Magic pages have had small cosmetic changes but the info on display should be more helpful during current times with tours constantly changing. The tour listings page and the blog was also updated with more cancelled and rescheduled shows. Please view previous blog entry which was published during the week for the specifics as well as the tour listings page. Lastly I have continued to update the blog on a daily basis and I hope that you find the content of interest. I have also added a new Vlog at the weekend that reviews the new Star Wars dark and light side cards.

  • Eventbrite- Magic at the Barn

As Zoom Magic continues to grow in popularity, it is worth checking out the eventbrite website. Apps are also available. The site has many online events which it is promoting. Searching the online Shows with keywords like magician is bringing up a lot of choices worldwide. Ive just discovered another UK Zoom show that I have bought tickets for - “Magic at the Barn”. Below is the advertising text from Eventbrite in case of interest. Whats interesting about this event is that as well as interactive Zoom tickets, cheaper tickets to just stream live on YouTube are also available. Magic at the Barn - “Live award-winning magic, illusion, interactive impossibilities, comedy and entertainment broadcasted direct from the stage of a 17th century barn theatre. Featuring the conjuring feats of Oliver Tabor, magic and comedy from Wayne Trice with variety acts across the UK plus interactive magic through your screen! A wonder-filled way of witnessing wizardy over the web.”
