Over the course of the weekend, I will attempt to get out a daily blog post out with a summary of what I have been up to along with any photos.
I arrived late Thursday morning by train into Blackpool North, a straightforward and easy journey. I was then able to check into my hotel early and then I registered for BMC around 12 p.m. The registration process was very smooth, and if you can register on the Thursday prior to the main BMC starting, it does make it all a little easier. While checking in, I got to see and chat to some familiar faces and friends. The registration area already was a hive of activity.
The amazing talent that is Harry Merlin Piper was also around, and I seized the moment to say hello/introduce self and get a signed card and selfie. This young chap is amazing. I saw him perform a couple of years back and can’t wait to see him again on the Saturday evening. He is also a Young Magician of the Year winner, and he will be a massive star beyond just the magic community very soon..

Afternoon wise, I had a little walk around and made my way to “ShowTown” Blackpool after a quick visit and chat in the “House of Secrets.” “ShowTown” is an exhibit about the history of entertainment in Blackpool that, of course, featured magic. I will write a full review over the coming weeks, but I had a great time visiting. Not only did I bump into magic mates as lots of magicians visited that afternoon, the exhibit was very enjoyable too. Lots to see around Blackpool’s seaside entertainment history. Everyone I talked to enjoyed the exhibit, and the staff were also lovely. The exhibit took about 90 mins or so to view and it is very well maintained.
Late afternoon, I was able to catch up briefly with some magic friends from Leicester. As a quick catch-up with them, hopefully I will bump into some of them again tomorrow.
For my signed playing card collection, I managed to get signed cards from Harry Merlin Piper (too left), Fraser Stokes (bottom left), and Andrew Sherratt (top right).

After a rather nice tea at my hotel, for the evening I then went to see the “Evolution of Magic” show that features Craig Christian and Elizabeth Best. It was so good to see this show as I last watched Elizabeth two years ago. This latest show was excellent and I will write a review soon. The advantage this time was that the theatre was full of magicians who were appreciative of their performances. Last time I saw the show, there were some quite disrespectful audience members that ruined the experience for me. Audience members who were talking loudly on phones during the performance and being disruptive. Thankfully as near the stage, I had an excellent view and experience.
On a separate note, I used the tram system in Blackpool to get to the theatre that is at the Pleasure Beach. I was really impressed with the tram and thought the price was reasonable as well and easy to book and use.
